First Use
- Start or join a squad in GW2
- Left-click the
[LT]corner icon to open the message popup - Click any message to send it โ it auto-types and sends via your configured channel
- Right-click the icon to open the editor and customise your messages
Default Setup
Out of the box, LT Messages uses Shift+Enter to open squad chat and auto-sends to /squad. This is the recommended setup for active commanders. You can change both in Settings.
Chat Settings
Which key opens the chat box. Shift+Enter opens squad chat directly (recommended for commanders). Enter opens the last used channel.
Send โ automatically types and sends the message character by character. Paste Only โ copies to clipboard for manual pasting with Ctrl+V, useful for recruiting or multi-channel posting.
Specifies the GW2 chat channel. Supports 20+ options: /squad, /map, /guild, /party, /subgroup, /1โ/5 and more.
Configurable 5โ150ms keystroke speed. If messages are being cut off, increase the delay. Default of 40ms works for most systems.
๐ก Recommended for active commanders: Send + Shift+Enter + /squad. Use Paste Only for recruiting or when you need to post the same message across multiple channels.
Message Lists
LT Messages organises your presets into 6 lists (numbered 0โ5), each holding up to 30 messages. List 0 is permanently named "Default". Lists 1โ5 can be renamed to anything up to 30 characters (15 or fewer recommended for best display).
Renaming a List
- Right-click the
[LT]icon - Select the list number you want to rename
- Click the rename button and enter your new name

Writing Tips

- You can include GW2 chat codes (waypoints, items) directly in messages
- Custom ordering requires deleting and recreating messages in the desired order
โ ๏ธ 199 character limit per message due to GW2's chat system constraints. The editor will warn you if you exceed this.
LT Message Modes
Broadcasts to the entire squad using slash commands. Requires LT Mode and auto-send enabled. Best for commanders.
Targets your specific sub-group using /subgroup. Useful for lieutenants coordinating within a larger squad.
Uses Shift+Enter shortcuts without slash commands, broadcasting to the last active channel.
Disable auto-send while keeping LT Mode active. Messages copy to clipboard โ paste anywhere with Ctrl+V. Great for recruiting across multiple channels.

Common Configurations
Troubleshooting
Messages aren't sending
- Ensure LT Mode is enabled in module settings
- GW2 must be in focus (windowed or borderless fullscreen โ not true fullscreen)
- Check Blish HUD is running and the module is active
- Try increasing the typing delay to 75โ150ms if messages cut off
Messages going to the wrong channel
- Check your Chat Command setting in Chat Settings
- If using Enter for Chat Focus, it opens the last active channel โ switch to Shift+Enter for squad
- Keybind conflicts with GW2 settings can prevent proper chat opening
Can't save messages / file errors
- Messages file auto-creates at:
Documents\Guild Wars 2\addons\blishhud\lt_messages\messages.txt - Check the file is not marked as read-only
- File permission issues may require running Blish HUD as administrator
Special characters not typing correctly
- Some keyboard layouts cause special characters to fail โ use Paste Only mode as a workaround
- GW2 chat codes (waypoints etc.) should work in both Send and Paste Only modes
